New Trust Children’s Menu

SCL Catering has recently launched a new children’s menu—an initiative thoughtfully developed around Sophie’s Legacy.

Sophie’s Legacy was born from a deeply moving experience, highlighting the challenges families face when a child is in hospital. At its heart, the legacy calls for compassion, dignity, and better support for both young patients and their families during incredibly difficult times. It has since become a powerful driver for change across healthcare settings, inspiring improvements that go beyond clinical care.

This new menu reflects that mission. Carefully designed by the catering team and contract and performance, it brings a child-focused approach to hospital dining—balancing nutrition with comfort, familiarity, and choice. The aim is simple but important: to make mealtimes less daunting and more supportive for children during their stay.

Importantly, this launch also coincides with enhanced catering facilities provided by the Trust for parents and carers. Recognising that families often spend long hours at a child’s bedside, these improvements ensure they too have access to quality food and a more supportive environment.

This has been a truly collaborative effort, and I’d like to extend sincere thanks to the catering team whose dedication and attention to detail have made this possible. Their work plays a vital role in improving the overall hospital experience for both children and their families.

Small changes can make a big difference—and this is a meaningful step forward in delivering more compassionate care.
