Meet the Board

Simon Gerry is the former Chief Executive of an award-winning Higher Education charity and Managing Director of a commercial subsidiary.  Prior to his appointment as Chair of Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL), he had over two decades of senior leadership experience across healthcare, higher education and the charity sector.  Previous roles included: Non-Executive Director of an NHS Trust (where he was Chair of the Audit Committee); Lead Governor of an NHS Trust; and Charity Trustee.  Notably, he has also worked within the Ministry of Defence and Defence Logistics Organisation covering resource management, corporate governance, and estates and facilities management.  Other roles as Managing Director of a Property Maintenance company and Director of Support Services on a military base means he has significant experience working in the estates and property management fields.

Simon’s focus is on strategic leadership, collaboration and good governance, and to ensuring the company delivers an excellent, sustainable, patient focussed service to their NHS colleagues.

Phil has over 40 years of NHS experience. Following graduation from Newcastle medical school in 1983 he undertook his higher surgical training in hospitals across the North East and London before taking up post as a consultant neurosurgeon at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 1996. During his career, Phil enjoyed a variety of clinical leadership, academic and educational roles. He has a proven track record of improving the quality of clinical services with multiple presentations at national and international meetings.

Following retirement from clinical practice in December 2020, Phil has undertaken Non-Executive Director posts at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (2021-2024) and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2024-2026) giving rise to a broad experience of board governance across all domains. 

Alison has over 39 years’ experience working in facilities management and became the Managing Director of Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL), 1 April 2017.  Alison’s primary role is to lead the Company and its workforce to ensure the successful delivery of the Company’s strategic aims and objectives.

Alison has been actively involved in a number of National work programmes aimed at improving Estates and Facilities Services over many years.

Rachel joined Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) on 1 June 2020 as Director of Finance.  Rachel is a Chartered Accountant with 30 years’ experience working within the private and public sectors across a variety of roles, most recently a Finance Director for a social housing provider and a Senior Finance Manager for a large construction company.

Rachel is responsible for the finances of SCL and also oversees Procurement and PFI management.  Rachel provides leadership and advice on all financial matters including performance and contract management, budgetary control, and business cases.
