The Property Team plays a key role in ensuring that County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust’s estate is managed effectively, efficiently and sustainably.

The NHS estate is one of the Trust’s most valuable assets and represents a significant investment. Effective management of buildings and accommodation helps ensure that facilities remain fit for purpose, support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services and provide value for money for patients, staff and the wider community.

We are responsible for managing, allocating, and monitoring the use of space across Trust-owned and occupied properties. Through regular reviews and strategic planning, we identify opportunities to optimise the estate, improve efficiency and ensure our facilities continue to meet the evolving needs of healthcare services.

The Property Team supports a wide range of capital and service development projects across the Trust. This includes providing specialist property advice during the planning, development, acquisition and occupation of premises.

Working closely with clinical and corporate services, we help ensure that accommodation solutions support service delivery and future organisational requirements.

The Property Team supports and manages accommodation across a diverse portfolio of healthcare and support facilities, including:

  • 6 Community hospitals
  • 12 support facilities
  • 49 non-inpatient sites
  • 15 NHS Property Services buildings
  • 35 Community Contract sites
